I have just been informed that my very close friend, Mike Boelter, known in the Society for Creative Anachronism as Sir Starhelm Warlocke, died today of a massive heart attack while running an errand in his newly-acquired pickup truck near his home in Nashville, Tennessee. His wife Karen was in the truck with him, and fortunately was able to take sufficient control of the vehicle to bring it safely to a halt before calling 911. That's about as much as I know, right now.

Please spread the word as you think fit. I know there are a lot of people in that area who knew Mike and Karen.

Am not certain there will be services immediately. Mike had signed up to be an organ donor, and after that expected to be cremated. We'll let you know what Karen decides.

So sorry for your loss Brock. Must be something in the air...summer begins and death; I too got notification of not one, but two deaths of old friends.
My sympathies to Karen, too. Hardship on the way, and mourning....not the usual association with summer, but there it is.
